The Future of DevCheck

A Message from the Developer

In 2015, I created DevCheck to address a simple yet critical need: accurate and reliable information about Android devices. As someone working with a variety of Android hardware, I couldn’t find a tool that gave me the precision and depth I required. That’s how DevCheck began—not as a business venture, but as a personal project to solve a real problem. Over the years, it has grown to become the leading device info app on Android, setting the standard for what such tools should be.

DevCheck has always been about innovation and accuracy. Unlike other apps that simply display basic information or pull specs from a database, DevCheck probes devices directly, uncovering details that are often overlooked. This unique approach ensures deeper insights and makes the app far harder to fool. It’s a tool built on years of research and experimentation, constantly finding new ways to uncover information about Android devices. While a basic system info app might seem simple to create, DevCheck’s depth and precision make it far more complex. Its commitment to uncovering accurate, detailed information has earned the trust of developers, enthusiasts, and everyday users alike.

From the start, I’ve prioritized user privacy and made decisions to reflect that commitment. DevCheck has always been ad-free, with no trackers or data collection.  I’ve recently placed ads on this website, but I remain committed to keeping the app ad-free. Many other apps in this space take a different approach. They load their interfaces with intrusive ads, trackers, and data collection mechanisms. A device info app has access to a lot of sensitive information, making it a prime target for these practices. DevCheck stands out as a rare alternative.

But this commitment comes at a cost. Few people actually purchase apps, and maintaining DevCheck—let alone improving it—is time-consuming and expensive. As the app has grown to millions of users, so have the costs and demands. With limited revenue from purchases, most of my time is spent reviewing error reports, researching new hardware, and addressing user and manufacturer inquiries. Most people assume there’s a team behind DevCheck—but it’s just me managing everything.

I’m under constant pressure to sell DevCheck, or at least introduce ads. Multiple parties have expressed interest in acquiring the app, with some quite lucrative offers. I’ve resisted these pressures because I believe in keeping DevCheck independent and true to its mission, but the financial and time constraints make this increasingly challenging.

Looking ahead, I’m eager to introduce exciting improvements, from enhanced performance monitoring to even deeper device insights. However, realizing this vision requires time and resources that are currently in short supply.

If you value what DevCheck stands for—accuracy, privacy, and innovation—please consider supporting the app. Every purchase helps keep it ad-free, tracker-free, and independent. Your support allows me to focus on making DevCheck even better.

Thank you for being part of the DevCheck journey. With your support, the app can continue to evolve and remain ad-free and independent.
